Hey there, and welcome to my blog. I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 24 years. I have used pharmaceutical processing and analytical equipment interfaced with computers for the compilation and analysis of various data sets. I have competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, HPLC data acquisition programs, Design of Experiments Programs and various other programs. While maintaining pace with developments in the pharmaceutical industry, I have not remained close to evolving technologies available and widely used by students today. In this Education 422 class, I hope to gain the knowledge necessary to bridge this gap.
I graduated from the University of Kansas in 1982 receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Cellular Biology. I have not worked in any school setting as an educator. I am currently the girls junior varsity basketball coach at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego and have been involved with that program for the last four years. I have been involved coaching youth baseball and baseball over the past twenty years. I hope to combine my love for working with kids and my knowledge of chemistry and biology to become an effective educator.
I hope to update myself in terms of technology competency through the materials taught in Education 422. I want to not only improve my own computer knowledge, but also acquire the insight to use the technology effectively with my students.
Kansas, huh? My daughter and I visited Kansas after her Junior year of high school. I can't remember whether "that school I was impressed by" was Kansas State or University of Kansas.
