Journal 1

The article describes ways to improve your Google skills and how to use advance features of Google. The author also introduces specialized search features such as image search, scholar search, book search and maps.

Qusetion 1. What is the difference between a sponsored link and a non-sponsered link?

Sponsored links are actually advertisements and a fee is paid to get these links moved sometimes to the top of search results. The sponsored links are clearly marked as "Sponsored Links" and should thus alert the searcher that this may be here because of a fee paid. The searcher should use discretion when seeing that a link is sponsored.

Question 2. How does PageRank work?

Depending on the number links from other Web sites that a page has the higher it will be ranked. The searcher then has to discern whether the site is merely popular or indeed credible. Regardless, the ranking is a good indicator that the site may be useful.
